This was my treat book between "homework" books, and may I please squee? And hope ever to write something as complicated and funny and full of Awesome as the Company novels? This was the last one, and I think I'm more sad about this series ending than that other series that just ended, but to be part of the cultural phenomenon I will next read That Book, too (you know the one I'm talking about).

My favorite character in the Company novels is the artificial intelligence in the form of a pirate. I could gush for hours about the way he was all gruff and adorable about his "little mateys" in this book, and his relationship with Alec Checkerfield through so many of the books. Can we not all have protective pirate super-AIs to see us through life? Is this too much to ask, I ask you?

No, definitely not too much to ask. I could really use a pirate with a big ship. (Although I love my bus driver with his big bus!)

As long as mine isn't named Captain Morgan -- can I have Grania, please? ;->

Looking forward to reading this last Company book, I've loved all the rest so much.

Someone on my F-list did a post about looking forward to the seventh and final book in a series. He was talking about THIS book, of course.

I do like that AI. I sure wouldn't mind living in a ship that came with an AI and housekeeping robots too. There must be worse things.
