I enjoyed this book like no other in recent memory! This was the first novel I've devoured since I can't remember when. It's really like reading a great Heinlein space military adventure, but without the things I don't like about Heinlein's stuff. The women in Old Man's War seem like real people, for example, instead of like a science fiction author's dream sex companions. I'm very impressed, and looking forward to reading Scalzi's other books.

Huh. I've been considering trying Scalzi's stuff. Looks like I know what I'm picking up at my next Powell's excursion...

Scalzi's GREAT
I really enjoyed the trilogy that started with Old Man's War, and have picked up another one of his, ( not that I remember the name of it right now) and really enjoy his characters. That is the reason I read, to follow people's reactions to the cercumstances around them.

Re: Scalzi's GREAT
Duh,
"Agent to the Stars" was Scalzi's first book, and has been reprinted. I got it at the library, and thought it wonderful. And yes, I kow how to spell circumstances, just not how to type it.
