Unanswerable question

Why is it that when I have a writing project to do--a real project with a deadline! That I shouldn't divulge details about!--all I want to do is draw?

Why why why?

I have a short story to write and send off before I leave for Context, and I'm in the middle of writing the rough draft. I even know what the story is about and what to write next. So naturally, I'm full of inspiration and ambitions for several months' worth of drawing projects. My solution is that when I've finished my 1,000 words for today, I get to draw for as long as I have left before it's time to fetch Felix from daycare. So naturally, with 300 words left to write on the rough draft, I'm posting in my LiveJournal.

People, what is wrong with me?

Don't answer that.

Maybe you should have someone give you a drawing project with a deadline. That might inspire you to write. :-)

I can't tell you what's wrong with you... But I can tell you I'm exactly the same way. And if I should be drawing, like for an upcoming convention, guess what I do? WRITE. >:|

It's good to know that I'm not the only one with a mind rebelling against itself!

Sounds pretty normal to me. And for me. :)

Procrastination is at the heart of human nature, I think. ;)

Yes, we are in good company. :)

What you need to do is say, "Yo! Fellow local writerly types. I've got this story I need to finish, and I know all of you are slacking on your own writing. Wanna meet up somewhere and keep each other honest while we beat down some words?"

Aha! That's a good plan--what are you doing Sunday afternoon? :)

I've written my 1,000 words for today, though! And I'm hoping to convene the gang to take a look at my new story in mid-September.

Mostly just chillin', because I'm hitting up a music festival full of hard & crunchy noise & industrial goodness on Saturday. By the afternoon, I should be conscious, and even a bit creatively hyped up from the aftereffects of listening to some bands the night before.

That totally happens to me. Remix? Why, the deadline is in 2 weeks. Think I will PAINT! Fantastic. WTF is up with that. I don't know. Let me know if you figure it out.
