My favorite character in the Company novels is the artificial intelligence in the form of a pirate. I could gush for hours about the way he was all gruff and adorable about his "little mateys" in this book, and his relationship with Alec Checkerfield through so many of the books. Can we not all have protective pirate super-AIs to see us through life? Is this too much to ask, I ask you?
