2007 Books #20, Pandora Drive, by Tim Waggoner

I'll start with the good news: this book had a great premise. Here's a line from the back cover about the main character, Damara, who "has the ability to make other people's dreams, fears, and fantasies all too real." That idea has a lot of potential. I would have loved to have read a fantasy novel about this character, but Pandora Drive is straight-up horror. It's about gore and a lot of highly creepy sex. It succeeds at being horrific, but it lacks complexity. I'm going to give the author another chance to impress me by reading another of his books this summer, before I sit in his writing workshop in September, but I don't recommend this book.
