2008 Books #8: Creating Short Fiction, by Damon Knight

(Actually a re-read, but it might as well have been a first reading, since I'd forgotten or mis-attributed most of it since the first time, sometime around 2000 to 2001. Bad, bad brain!)

As far as I'm concerned, it would be better to memorize this book than to read another 100 books about writing short stories, if writing them well is your goal. I think that I didn't remember a lot of the material for two reasons:

1. I wasn't ready to grok it the first time I read it.

2. I didn't write fiction consistently enough to really learn, before last year.

Both circumstances have changed. :)
